James Edward Dhooghe

EDMOND, Okla. — James “Jim” Edward Dhooghe, 82, former Parsons resident, died at 7:27 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Integris Health in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he lived.

He was born May 24, 1943, in Parsons, to Aloysius A. and Elouise (Keyte) Dhooghe. He graduated as the valedictorian of the St. Patrick High School class of 1961 and from Washburn University with a degree in business administration.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. Early in his adult years he lived in San Antonio and Houston and purchased his own company. He co-owned the Bucket Shop in Oklahoma City, later named Container Supply and remained there until his retirement.

Jim was an avid golfer for many years at Oaktree in Edmond. He was a member of the NRA and the Oklahoma Gun Club, where he did target shooting. He enjoyed gardening and a koi pond, birdwatching and other wildlife in his backyard oasis. A special memory was a golfing trip to Scotland.

In 1965 he married Janet Bradshaw and they were divorced in 1970. He and Betty L. Dunn were married on Sept. 17, 1992 in Las Vegas.

Surviving are his wife, Betty, of the home in Edmond; step-children, Kelly A. Dunn (Kristen) of Harrah, Oklahoma, Troy D. Dunn of Blanchard, OK and Susan Krause of Houston, Texas; four step-grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Ayden and Rayne; brothers and sisters, John Dhooghe (Jackie) of Parsons, David Dhooghe (Ellen) of Parsons, Deborah Mosier (Kevin) of Parsons, Janice Dulohery (Mike) of Parsons, Richard Dhooghe (Donna) of Cave Springs, Arkansas; nieces and nephews, John R. Dhooghe, Derek Dhooghe, Jordan Dhooghe, Samantha Hughes, Ryan Mosier, Matthew Mosier, Dr. Megan Dulohery Scrodin, Daniel Dulohery, Toni Walker, Craig Caldwell, Casey Caldwell, Josh March, Amanda Rogers, and Emily Dhooghe and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.

Preceding Jim in death is his father, in 1983; his mother in 2011; and brothers, Michael Dhooghe in 2005 and Donald Dhooghe in 2012 and his wife, Pam.

The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 20, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons, with Father Nic Jurgensmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m., Thursday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home and the family will receive friends until 7:30 after the rosary.
