CHETOPA — Larry Eugene Ross, 78, passed peacefully in his sleep at home on Feb. 27, 2026. Larry was born Sept. 4, 1947 at home in Chetopa, to Eugene and Patsy (Hill) Ross. Larry attended Baylor country school and graduated from Labette County High School. He was a 4-H and FFA member. Larry was a life long farmer. He planted crops for many years, driving a tractor in the fields since he was 8, along with raising cattle his whole life.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. Larry loved showing cattle with Kori and Cody during their 4-H days and continued on to help his nephews and grandchildren.
Larry married Phyllis (Fulkerson) Ross on Nov. 22, 1975. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They lived all their married life in the Chetopa/Oswego area.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Kori (Brandon) Bentley, Oswego, Cody (Jamie) Ross, Altamont; his grandchildren: Aidan, Makayla, Ryleigh, Kelsey, Grayson, and baby boy on the way; his sisters: Melinda (Charles) Littrell, Lesa (Bob) Deerdorff; a Brother: Willard (Terri) Ross; a sisterin- law: Karen (Mike) Dozier; a brother-in-law: Ed (Rick) Fulkerson, and many more wonderful family and friends, especially Christy Bertling.
Larry requested no services just happy memories! Just know he loved his life, family, friends, and farm. He lived his life like the Elvis song, he did it “my way.”
