Don E. Rasmussen

CHETOPA — Don E. Rasmussen, 86, of Chetopa, passed away the morning of Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at his residence.

Don Erick Rasmussen was born on April 18, 1939, to Leonard and Marie (Linderholm) Rasmussen in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Don graduated from Labette High School in 1957. He married Virginia Mae Yandell on October 26, 1959, in Parsons.

Don worked as a farmer for several years and drove school bus before he started driving a feed truck. This led the couple to relocate to the state of Washington for the next 35 years.

Don loved spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and building boats. He was a tremendous welder and mechanic.

Throughout his lifetime, he was a faithful member of the Church of God (Holiness), the Bible Missionary Church, and the Bible Holiness Church.

Survivors include: his wife – Virgina, of the home; Sons – Ronald of Buckley, Washington, Donald and wife Kristina of Libby, Montana and Jon and wife Kay of Auburn, Washington; a daughter – Rebekah Trierweiler and husband Tony of Puyallup, Washington; and 12 grandchildren- Melinda, Amanda (Nana), Alysen, Andrea (Travis), Austin, Aeden, Anna, Wesley (Jessica), Benjamin, Erika (Hunter), Chase and Tonya.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ester, grandson, Anthony Rasmussen, two brothers: Roy and Gene Rasmussen, and sister, Arlene Dean.

A memorial service will be held, at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7, at Altamont Holiness Church, 708 7th St., Altamont, KS 67330.

Memorials are suggested to Independence Bible School and may be left at or sent to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
