
PITTSBURG — Florence L. (Curry) Kimrey, 99, of Pittsburg, passed away at 1:15 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026.
Born at the family home in Coffeyville to James and Margarette (Carroll) Curry on July 23, 1926, she was their second child and the oldest daughter of seven children. She attended rural schools in the Coffeyville and Edna area through the eighth grade. In 1970, she completed her GED. She worked at various manufacturing sites in Labette County and retired as the supervisor of the laundry at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.
She was raised in the Church of God and attended the First Baptist Church of Edna. In her last 15 years, she attended College Heights United Methodist Church in Pittsburg.
An excellent cook and seamstress, she made her daughters’ clothes for many years and taught them how to cook and sew.
On February 14, 1945, she married Virgil Kimrey at the county courthouse in Oswego while he was home on leave from the Army. After a short time in Independence, Missouri, they made their home in Edna. They had two daughters, Joyce Kimrey Bever (Bob) and Deanna Kimrey Loughmiller (Tom).

The Celebration of Life was held Monday, Feb. 23, at College Heights United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. A private family burial will take place at Edna Elmgrove Cemetery in Edna.
