Parsons Public Library’s Board of Directors honored Library Director Samantha Graven for 20 years of service at their Board Meeting Tuesday, Feb. 10. Graven joined the library staff as Circulation Evening and Weekend Assistant during her senior year of high school. In the last 20 years, she has held numerous positions including Interlibrary Loan Specialist, Materials/ Supply Purchasing, Assistant Cataloger, Assistant Director and Interim Library Director. She was named Library Director in 2017.
During Graven’s tenure, the library has completed many projects including the recent remodel and window projects on the east and south sides of the library, the library becoming a certified Family Engagement Play Space and the addition of the Teen Room.
Graven is president of the Kansas Library Association Education Foundation, vice chair of the Kansas Library Association Public Library Section, co-chair on the Vendor Committee for the Kansas Library Association Conference Committee and a member of the William Allen White Children’s Book Award Selection Committee.
