CHANUTE — Staying in second place in the KJCCC standings, the Neosho County Panthers women narrowly defeated the Labette Cardinals, 86-84, on Saturday afternoon.
Laynie Winfrey led Neosho County in scoring for the second game in a row with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
Sophia Mireles added 15 points for Neosho County.
Labette’s Najya O’Neal led the Cardinals with 22 points off the bench while Aubreyanna Yelverton added 18 points.
Neosho County connected on 41% of its 3-pointers.
With the win, the Panthers improved to 17-8 overall and 6-1 in KJCCC play. Labette fell to 3-15 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
