Judy Ann Olson

Judy Ann (Winkler) Olson, age 81, of Parsons, Kansas, entered her eternal home with Jesus on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, in her living room with John, her husband, holding her hand. She was born on Sept. 24, 1944, to Harold and Alyce Marie (Beckman) Winkler. She grew up on a farm near Riley, Kansas.

She attended Riley Grade School and graduated from Riley County High School as the salutatorian of the class of 1962. While in high school, she was active in band, playing the clarinet, chorus, drama, pep club, and served leadership roles in several organizations. She was the editor of the Falcon Flier, the school newspaper, her senior year. She majored in elementary education at Kansas State University, graduating magna cum laude in 1966.

Judy married John Olson, her high school sweetheart, on June 5, 1965, at the Riley Methodist Church. They enjoyed 65 years together since their first date on her 16th birthday.

She and John were blessed with the adoption of two babies in the early 70’s, David Michael in ‘71, and Deborah Kay in ‘74. She taught school in the primary grades for eight years, including some time at a Christian Children’s Home in Texas. Her teaching career was cut short due to health issues.

As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and made many clothes for the entire family, including a prom dress for Debbie and a sport coat for John.

After moving to Parsons in 1985, she became active in the Parsons Foursquare Church. Her love for children gave her the opportunity to be the Preschool Sunday School teacher. She taught that class for 26 years, loved it and collected many special memories along the way. She served various church groups, including taking meals to people in need and doing welcoming visitations to newcomers in the church. Judy enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren during their preschool years and then, after school during their grade school years.

She is survived by her husband John, son David (Janet), daughter Debbie Fillamonte (Mike), her grandkids, Jake (Torrie), Emilee, Kaitlyn (Wesley), and Johnathon; and one great-grandson, Damon Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kay Seymour Clements.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at the Parsons Foursquare Church. Memorials are suggested to Compassion International and these may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
