Ivan Eugene Queen Sr.

COLUMBUS — Ivan Eugene Queen, 77, of Columbus, formerly of Parsons, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Marie (Frank) Queen; his parents; and 11 siblings.

Born Oct. 3, 1948, in Mulvane, Ivan was one of 18 children of Earl Raymond and Ruth (Black) Queen. He served seven years in the U.S. Army and later worked at Tech Tank in Parsons, among other jobs, until retiring.

Ivan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather who cherished time with family. Known for his strength, kindness, humor, and love of Pepsi and popcorn, he enjoyed cards, walking, math tricks, bowling in his younger years, and making others laugh.

He is survived by his children Ivan E. Queen Jr. (Donna), Robert L. Queen Sr. (Pam), and John L. Queen (Rhonda James); several grandchildren and great‑grandchildren; and six siblings: Judith Fregoso, Kathy Baily, Brian Queen, Jimmy Queen, Mary Littlejohn, and Anita Haley.

Ivan was a great man and will be missed by all. The family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his loving wife, Kathy.

Cremation was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home in Oswego, Private services may be held at a later time.
