Local N ews Parsons City Commission sets public hearing for CID sales tax
During Tuesday’s Parsons City Commission meeting, the commission voted to pass a resolution to set a public hearing.
This public hearing, set for Monday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m, would be concerning the creation of a community improvement district for the Katy Golf Club project.
According to the resolution, the CID would allow for the city to impose a 2% sales tax within the district to finance improvements to the Katy Golf Club.
Such improvements include: renovation of the current Katy Golf Club house, upgrade of the parking lot to pavement, along with golf cart path resurface, adding a new 50 foot by 100 foot maintenance building, and adding a new full-service 6,500 square foot restaurant and event space.
The total estimated cost of the project is $4,325,000, which would be reimbursed by the sales tax. The project would be financed on a payas- you-go basis from the revune collected from the CID sales tax according to the resolution.
In other actions, the commission approved appropriation ordinance No. 0425, in the amount of $606,850.82.

A payment invoice to Burns & McDonnell Engineering for design services for the ongoing Tri-City Airport Partial Parallel Taxiway Project was approved for $32,070. It was noted that this project is only 10% funded by the city, with the other 90% will be reimbursed by the Federal Aviation Administration. Another agreement with Burns & McDonnell for the 2025 stormwater report was also approved for $24,500.
The next Parsons City Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m. in the City Commission Room in the municipal building.
