
Richard Dale Dean, 93, of Parsons, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026 at his home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1932 at Sterling, Colorado, a son of Ruthford and Cora (Beasley) Dean. His family moved to Parsons soon after he was born and he grew up and attended school there. After graduating from the Parsons High School in 1949, he attended the Pittsburg State Teachers College and received a teaching degree. He taught science in Fredonia, and Miami, Oklahoma.
He later moved to Lawrence and attended the University of Kansas where he received two Master’s Degrees and his Ph.D.
He then moved to Kansas City in 1965 and began working at the K.U. Medical Center as a Radiological Health Physicist. After retirement, he returned to Parsons in March 2000.
On Jan. 26, 1954 he was united to Caroline June Duton at the former First United Methodist Church at Parsons. She preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2004.
He had attended the First Christian Church at Parsons. He also belonged to E.L.K.S. Lodge No. 527, in Parsons. He enjoyed sailing and was active in a sailing club. He also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include: one son – Rick Dean, of Olathe; one daughter - Cathy Dean, of Parsons; and one sister – Ruth Harris, of Owasso, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Dean on Feb. 6, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Reverend Jennifer Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, at the Carson- Wall Funeral Home.
