Playing at home for the second time in three days, the Parsons Vikings boys fell to the Burlington Wildcats, 66-28, on Thursday night.
Parsons fell into an early hole and trailed, 43-8, at halftime.
“I was really happy with our first few possessions. We got good looks off of a steal and a defensive rebound,” Parsons head coach Anthony Houk said. “We just didn’t put the ball in. The next thing you know, it’s 13-0. We’ve got to find a way to get some points on the board in the first few minutes of the game. If not, we’re frantic and chaotic. That compounds the emotions.”
With Burlington still playing its starters, the Vikings won the third quarter, 17-15.
“I challenged the guys to be their best and I was proud that our guys didn’t give up,” Houk said. “It brought us a little bit of life. Each one of our guys, I know there’s more in there. We’ve got to encourage them to keep putting their best foot forward and dig the good stuff out.”
Connor Largent led Parsons with 10 points. The Vikings fell to 0-10 with the loss.

Parsons plays top-seeded Southeast on Tuesday in the first round of the Lancer Classic in Cherokee.
“Part of what I talked to the guys about was finding something in the second half to carry into this tournament,” Houk said. “We can’t be lifeless. That’s why I was proud of how we came out with some life. We’ve got to have confidence in ourselves. I know we’re better than we’re playing.”
