
ROWLETT, Texas — Joyce Ann Kendall, 72, of Rowlett, Texas, and a former Parsons resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan- uary 13, 2026, at the Baylor Scott White Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1953, in Parsons, Kansas. Joyce devoted many years of her life to serving students and staff as the cafeteria manager at Schrade Middle School and Lakeview High School. Through her work, she nourished more than just bodies—she offered kindness, consistency, and care to countless children and coworkers who came to know her warm presence. She was also dedicated to the community as a manager at Surf and Swim, where her leadership, friendly spirit, and commitment to others left a lasting impression on all who worked with her and visited the pool.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Eugene Kendall; her son, Kevin Patrick Kendall; her granddaughter, Abigail June Kendall; her parents, Toby and Clara Newkirk; and her siblings, Nathaniel Newkirk, Bob Newkirk and Linda Sexton.
Joyce is survived by her son, Terry Kendall, and her daughter- in-law, Kari Kendall. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Hunter Kendall and his fiancée Katy Hodges, along with their children Ava, Kason, and Kash; Savannah Kendall and Dillon Stiles; Alexis Moctezuma and her husband Cody, and their children Miller and Waylon; Riley Stockton; and Tyson Wynn-Kendall.
She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, Crista Sexton, Lori Sexton, and Nikki Sexton; her nephew, Scott Sexton, along with her niece Lauren Fails and her husband, Daniel, and their children, Dani and Easton.
Joyce found joy in arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, and took great comfort in the companionship of her various pets, whom she loved and spoiled dearly. Her creativity, gentle spirit, and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at the Springhill Cemetery near Parsons.
