The Labette Health Foundation is proud to announce the installation and launch of a new, cutting-edge computed tomography system, made possible by the generous donation from Labette Health’s Volunteer Services in the amount of $50,000 and a $25,000 grant from the Mount Carmel Foundation Legacy Grant, administered through the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas.
The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas hosts individual charitable funds created by donors who have a passion for giving back to their community. Grants from these funds assist people throughout southeast Kansas and beyond.
“These donations represent the heart of our community,” said Christina Sykes, vice president and chief operations officer. “Our Volunteer Services and the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas’ Mount Carmel Legacy Grant continue to champion access to exceptional healthcare close to home. Their support allows us to offer the best technology available throughout the region.”
The state-of-the-art Siemens CT scanner, and the first of its kind in Kansas, is a versatile 128-slice computed tomography system designed to deliver high-speed, high-resolution scanning with up to 128 slices, enabling ultra-fast image acquisition and exceptional clarity – particularly beneficial for cardiac, trauma, interventional, and neurological imaging. It includes automated technology that can take the guesswork out of selecting the optimal radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
The system allows technologists to operate the CT system with a touch-screen tablet and remote control, keeping patients close during exam preparation while improving the patient experience. In addition, its automated, patient-centered technology adapts to each patient to deliver consistent, reliable results in all aspects of hospital imaging – including the most advanced fields such as cardiac and coronary artery imaging, low-dose pediatric scanning, CT guided minimally invasive interventional procedures, and more.

“I am incredibly proud to work with this amazing team, whose dedication and expertise consistently ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging for our patients,” said Radiology Director Jerry Dixon. “By investing in one of the most advanced CT scanners in the region, complete with advanced cardiac and interventional capabilities, Labette Health reaffirms its commitment to providing exceptional care throughout southeast Kansas.”
