Labette County wrestling takes down Cherryvale in dual

ALTAMONT — The Labette County Grizzlies beat the Cherryvale Chargers, 42-39, in a boys wrestling dual on Tuesday night in Altamont.

Cherryvale’s Brock Vincen opened the dual with a pin over Jayden Dobbs at 106 points.

Labette County’s Isaiah Coon and Gavin Myers won at open weights at 113 and 120 pounds, respectively.

Dawson Wiley got the Grizzlies’ first bout win at 126 pounds with a pin of Joshua Cumpton of the Chargers.

Stats were unavailable for the 132 and 138-pound matches, but Cherryvale was listed as the winner.

At 144 pounds, Cherryvale’s Conner Slane pinned Brock McCarty.

Labette County got back on the board at 150 pounds with Logan Jenkins pinning Malachi Thornton.

Caleb Slane of the Chargers won by decision over Alex Ludwig at 157 pounds.

Labette County won the next two matches, with Chris Hare (165) and Aaron Wyrick (175) pinning Chandler Amberg and Bentley Davis, respectively.

Reyce Booe of Cherryvale pinned Chase Daniels at 190 pounds. At 215 pounds, Kaiden Smith of the Grizzlies won at an open weight.

Cherryvale’s Cooper Smith ended the night in the heavyweight match with a pin of Thomas Whitaker.
