Parsons Chamber announces Christmas parade award winners, and royalty

The holiday spirit lit up downtown Parsons on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. as the community gathered for the annual Parsons Christmas Parade; this year’s theme was “Holiday Movie Magic” in celebration of the return of Parsons Theatre and the new Movies on Broadway mural at 18th and Broadway. The long-standing tradition brought together families, friends, and neighbors to celebrate the season with lights, music, and festive cheer.

This year’s parade was led by Grand Marshal Skip Smith, a well known Parsons resident whose decades of service, kindness, and community pride made him an excellent choice for the honor. Spectators lined Main Street to welcome him and to enjoy an evening of holiday excitement.

The parade also featured this year’s Holiday Royalty: Princess Saylor, daughter of Eric and Lindsey Howard, and Prince Layne, son of Sara Curtis, who greeted the crowd with joy and enthusiasm. Their bright smiles and excitement captured the heart of the season and represented the young spirit of Parsons.

Floats, marching groups, and creative entries from local businesses, churches, schools, and organizations filled the parade route. After reviewing all entries, the judges selected the following winners.

2025 Parade Award Winners are: Best Use of Lights: Wagner Custom Drone Spraying; Best Themed Float: Curious Minds Discovery Zone; Best Overall Float: The Remnant Church; and Judges’ Choice: Reverie Co.

Each winner displayed exceptional creativity and enthusiasm, contributing to one of the most memorable parades in recent years.

Special thanks goes out to parade sponsors, Platinum Sponsor: KLKC radio FM 93.5, Gold Sponsors: City of Parsons & Labette County Tourism, Silver Sponsors: Presbyterian Manor & Tank Connection. Another thank you goes out to Mike Carpino Ford Parsons for loaning us use of vehicles for the commissioners, royalty, and grand marshal. Finally, the Chamber wishes to recognize the Parsons Lions Club for their invaluable leadership of lining up and directing the parade.

The Parsons Area Chamber of Commerce extends its appreciation to all participants, volunteers, businesses, and spectators who helped bring this holiday tradition to life. As always, we thank the Parsons Public Works, Parsons Police Department, and Parsons Fire Department for their hard work, too. The Chamber also encourages the community to continue supporting local shops and restaurants throughout the season.
