Dale Pearce, a Parsons native and a former sailor in the Navy, was 21 years old when he died aboard the USS Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941, during the Pearl Harbor attack in Hawaii. The attack was carried out by Japan and propelled the U.S. into World War II. Pearce’s name is listed and pictured here at the USS Oklahoma Memorial on Ford Island, a military installation on Pearl Harbor. Sunday marks the 84th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. Pearce’s remains were identified by the Navy and later exhumed in 2015. His remains were returned to family in Parsons in May 2016. Sean Frye/Sun Photo
