Sunday Country Breakfast
The Bartlett Community Church will host a Sunday Country Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 7. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-9:30 a.m. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet menu will feature homemade sausage gravy served with biscuits, hash browns, scrambled eggs, egg casseroles, ham, sausage, fresh fruit, breakfast sweets, donuts, homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, juice, and milk. Donations will be accepted to support the ministry and mission work of the church. The public is invited to attend.
Carryout will be available for those that do not want to dine in. The church is located at 712 Main on the south side of Bartlett. In case of severe weather conditions, you can call 620-423-1789 or 620-778-4635 to check for cancellation.
Mound Valley Tree Lighting
Sunday, Dec. 7 will be the annual Mound Valley Tree Lighting. Booth set up will be from 4:15-4:45 in the post office parking lot in Mound Valley. The parade lineup will occur from 4:45-5:15 in the Mound Valley Grade School parking lot. Event festivities for attendees begins at 5 p.m. in downtown Mound Valley. The parade will start marching at 5:30 p.m., traveling from Walnut and 4th Street, east to Hickory, then north on Hickory to 6th Street. The tree-lighting will occur at 6 p.m., with the event wrapping up at 7 p.m. Attendees can expect food, music, photo opportunities, games, and to visit with Santa.
Proud Animal Lovers Shelter
PALS will hold our annual meeting on Monday, Dec. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the PALS shelter, 24052 Meade Road in Parsons. The public is invited to attend this year-end summary of the shelter’s operations.
Saint Paul Blood Drive
The American Red Cross will host a blood drive blood drive Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 1–6 p.m at Saint Francis Hall, 47 Highway and First Street, Saint Paul
Parsons Blood Drive
The Shared Faith Community Church is hosting a blood drive at 1500 S. 29th St. in Parsons. The drive will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, and then from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12. Wreaths Across America
Oakwood Cemetery and Memorial Lawn Cemetery are continuing as Wreaths Across America sites for 2025. National Wreath Day will be Dec.13, 2025. A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at noon that day to honor the veterans whose final resting place is Oakwood.

Christmas Concert
Labette Community College will present a Christmas Concert featuring the Parsons Community Band, Chorus, and Orchestra on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. in the Parsons High School Auditorium
Altamont Senior Citizens
The Altamont Senior Citizens will have Breakfast and Bingo at 9 a.m. on Dec. 19 at 414 Huston Ave., Altamont.
Community National Bank Toy Drive

Community Christmas Dinner
The Parsons Ministerial Association and the Brown-Bishop Post 704 of the VFW are providing a free Christmas Day dinner at the VFW, 105 Main Street. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. Dinners will also be delivered to Parsons area homes. The Parsons Livestock Auction sold 2,002 cattle Wednesday. Choice cows 164-173.50, canners-cutters 155-163, shelly cows 154 and down, bred cows up to $3,200, pairs up to $3,000, choice bulls 185-215, lower grades 184 and down.
