PSU announces details for Winter Commencement

PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University will recognize the accomplishments of 448 graduating students when degrees are conferred in Winter Commencement ceremonies in John Lance Arena inside the Weede Building on Friday, Dec. 12.

Of those, 268 will be students earning undergraduate degrees and 180 will be earning graduate degrees.

Ceremony times and details are as follows: For Crossland College of Technology, Schools of Automotive & Engineering Technology, School of Construction, School of Technology & Workforce Learning, and Kelce College of Business majors including: Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Data Science & Information Systems, Finance, Human Resource Development, Management, Marketing, Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Science in Human Resource Development and Supply Chain Management, the ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the ceremony for the College of Education, Teaching & Leadership, Health, Human Performance & Recreation, Psychology & Counseling, College of Arts and Sciences for majors including: Art, Communication, English and Modern Languages, Integrated Studies, Math and Physics, Music, General Studies, School of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences, Biology and Chemistry, and the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing.

Student Teacher Recognition Thirty-five student teachers in the College of Education on track to earn their degrees this semester will be celebrated in the Student Teacher Recognition ceremony at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the Bickell Family Center for the Arts.

Also being recognized at that time will be award recipients including Teachers of Promise — and Distinguished Educators.

ROTC Commissioning

Two ROTC cadets — George Short and Thomas Porch — will be commissioned in a ceremony at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12 in the Miller Theater of the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, 1711 S. Homer. The ceremony is open to the public.

Commencement check-in All graduates and guests are to check in at the Robert W. Plaster Center, 1701 S. Homer, 15 minutes prior to each ceremony.

Graduates and ticketed guests will start in the Plaster Center and then proceed to John Lance Arena inside the Weede Building, 1701 S. Homer. Non-ticketed guests will be directed to the arena upon check-in.

Parking

Parking is free and available in the following lots: — Between the Weede Building and the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, 1711 S. Homer.

— Across the street from the Weede (west). — Adjacent to the Plaster Center’s south doors.

Livestream broadcast

Pittsburg State University will webcast the commencement ceremonies via livestream at pittstate.tv. The webcast will start shortly before each ceremony. An archived copy of the ceremonies will be available online at pittstate.tv via the video on demand option.
