VFW Thanksgiving Dinner
VFW Post 704 is having a free Thanksgiving dinner, with all the fixings on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27. Dinner is open to members and anyone in the community. Meals can be eaten at the VFW, taken to-go, or delivered for free. For more information, call the VFW at 620-421-6610.
McCune Farm to Market
McCune Farm to Market will have a dance party this Saturday night starting at 6:30 p.m. featuring DJ Mikey J. Come join the fun in the new Chandelier Room.
Audubon Society
The Southeast Kansas Audubon Society will have the annual Christmas pot luck dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. The meetings are held at the Parsons Arboretum, at 2004 Briggs Ave., at the corner of 21st and Briggs in Glenwood Park in Parsons. Those attending are asked to bring covered dishes of food to share and your own table service. Drinks will be provided. The dinner will be followed by a trivia quiz featuring Southeast Kansas Flora and Fauna. Please note the earlier time for this special meeting. SKIL Resource Center Annual meeting
SKIL is pleased to announce our inclusive and accessible holiday party and annual meeting designed to bring joy and connection throughout the holiday season. This years theme, “Hands that serve, Hearts that care” is promoting SKILS commitment to inclusion and community. Our holiday party and annual meeting will be held Friday, Dec. 5 from 2-4 p.m. at the Parsons VFW, 105 Main St. Activities will include holiday bingo, gift baskets, raffles and our annual awards honoring individuals within our agency, as well as our community. Blood Drive
The Shared Faith Community Church is hosting a blood drive at 1500 S. 29th St. in Parsons. The drive will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, and then from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12. Christmas Concert
Labette Community College will present a Christmas Concert featuring the Parsons Community Band, Chorus, and Orchestra on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. in the Parsons High School Auditorium
Altamont Senior Citizens
The Altamont Senior Citizens will have Breakfast and Bingo on Dec. 19.
Community National Bank Toy Drive
Community National Bank and Trust is accepting toy donations for Labette County Toys for Tots through Dec. 23. Donations can be brought to the bank during business hours; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information, visit www. labettecounty.toysfortots.org.
Wreaths Across America
Oakwood Cemetery and Memorial Lawn Cemetery are continuing as Wreaths Across America sites for 2025. National Wreath Day will be Dec.13, 2025. A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at noon that day to honor the veterans whose final resting place is Oakwood.
The Parsons Historical Society & Museum Complex and Friends of the Parsons Historical Society are the local sponsors for Wreaths Across America. The Parsons Museum will assist those who want to order wreaths. The community can also purchase wreaths on the Wreaths Across America website https://www.wreathsacrossamerica. org and can use either of the local sponsor groups. The Historical Society gets credit from Wreath Across America for all wreaths purchased under their cemetery sites for Oakwood and Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The wreaths are a live fir wreath from Maine and come with a red bow for $17.
General donations can be given to the Parsons Historical Society & Museum Complex and 100% of the funds will be put towards the Wreath Program to honor veterans in the local cemeteries in Parsons.

Community Christmas Dinner
The Parsons Ministerial Association and the Brown-Bishop Post 704 of the VFW are providing a free Christmas Day dinner at the VFW, 105 Main Street. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. Dinners will also be delivered to Parsons area homes. If you wish to volunteer to help with serving, cleaning, or delivering, call Janet Basler at 405-229-3041. If you desire meals delivered, please call before noon on Monday, Dec. 22.
