Labette County Sheriff’s Office arrest man after chase into Cherokee

On Wednesday Nov. 19, 2025, Labette County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested John E. Logan following a lengthy pursuit that concluded in the City of Cherokee, Kansas.

Deputies were able to bring the incident to a safe end with critical assistance from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, whose quick response helped ensure Logan was taken into custody without further incident. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department reported: “Shortly after 11 p.m., we were notified that the Labette County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of a red Chevrolet HHR eastbound on US-400 Highway entering Crawford County.

As the pursuit entered the city of Cherokee, one of our deputies successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The suspect continued to attempt to elude law enforcement, but was stopped when another deputy conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention maneuver a short distance later.

There were no injuries reported and no damage sustained to any law enforcement vehicles.”

Logan was transported to the Labette County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Labette County Charges: Aggravated Burglary, $100,000 Cash/Surety Bond; Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer; Criminal Threat; Flee or Attempt to Elude; Reckless Driving; Flee or Attempt to Elude; 5+ Moving Violations; Felony Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer ; Felony Criminal Damage to Property; Violation of a Protection Order; Reckless Driving; Theft of a Motor Vehicle; Driving While License Suspended; Maximum Speed Limits Violation; Left of Center; Failure to Signal; Failure to Maintain Lane; Defective Headlight; Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device; Failure to Stop at Stop Sign; and Driving on Left in No Passing Zone.

Additional Holds: Two counts of Contempt of Court.
