Oakwood Cemetery and Memorial Lawn Cemetery are continuing as Wreaths Across America sites for 2025. National Wreath Day will be Dec.13, 2025. A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at noon that day to honor the veterans whose final resting place is Oakwood.
The Parsons Historical Society & Museum Complex and Friends of the Parsons Historical Society are the local sponsors for Wreaths Across America. The Parsons Museum will assist those who want to order wreaths by holding in-person sign-up days on Sunday, Nov. 23, Monday, Nov. 24 and Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. each day. To set up an appointment or for more information, call or email the Parsons Historical Society & Museum Complex, 620-450-6060 or parsonsmuseums@ gmail.com.
The community can also purchase wreaths on the Wreaths Across America website https://www.wreathsacrossamerica. org and can use either of the local sponsor groups. The Historical Society gets credit from Wreath Across America for all wreaths purchased under their cemetery sites for Oakwood and Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The wreaths are a live fir wreath from Maine and come with a red bow for $17.
General donations can be given to the Parsons Historical Society & Museum Complex and 100% of the funds will be put towards the Wreath Program to honor veterans in the local cemeteries in Parsons.
The Historical Society will cover as many veterans graves in each cemetery as funds allow. For further information, contact the WAA Location Coordinators, Jonna Gabbert, 620-404-9262 or Susan Harrison- Washington at 808-2831482.
