Labette wrestles K-State club, Murray State

Labette hosted Murray State and the K-State Wrestling Club on Wednesday for a set of duals, winning both on the scoreboard.

Labette defeated K-State, 48-12, and Murray State, 3512.

Against K-State, the Cardinals dropped two of the three bouts that went on and won seven matches with open weights.

At 184 pounds, K-State’s Cameron Zimmerman pinned Labette’s Justice Hield 48 seconds into Labette’s Chance Meggs got a pin two-and-a-half minutes into the 197-pound match.

Joisah Brezina of K-State pinned Labette’s Gage Wingerter in the heavyweight bout.

Facing Murray State, Labette scored first with Braxton Moody nabbing a major decision over Desmond Mayfield at 125 pounds.

Murray State’s Gavin Wehr won a narrow 2-1 decision over David Ritchey at 133 pounds.

In the 141-pound bout, Labette’s Tucker Collinsworth secured a major decision over Hudson Beckley.

Labette got its first pin of the dual at 149 pounds with Kyuler Tabor pinning Kade Carter.

Nathan Brown of Murray State won a 5-4 decision over Roger Mendoza of Labette at 157 pounds.

Labette won the next three matches, with Jais Rose pinning Kaden Gallagher at 165 pounds, Blake Hurt pinning Izaya Elix at 174 pounds and Aiden Cisterna winning at an open weight at 184 pounds.

Murray State’s Brayden Tomlinson pinned Chance Meggs at 197 pounds before Wingerter won a 4-0 decision over Garrett Henry at heavyweight.
