Breaking another decade- plus drought, the Labette Cardinals had two players selected to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference volleyball team.
Allie Rushing, an outside hitter, was named to the All-KJCCC Second Team while Iniya Hinman, a Parsons native middle blocker, was named to the Third Team. The last time Labette had a player earn all-conference honors was 2014 while Auriana Jackson, another Parsons native, earned an honorable mention distinction.
“It shows how serious these kids are about making Labette a program to be proud to come from,” Labette head coach Deardin Kelley said.
Rushing was the bedrock for Labette’s revival campaign this fall. A dominant outside from Texas, Rushing injected firepower to the Cardinals’ offense.
A transfer from North Dakota State College of Science — a one-year loan for the Cardinals — Rushing amassed 422 kills and maintained a .174 kill percentage. Her 422 kills ranked 19th nationally and fourth in the KJCCC.
“She had a great season,” Kelley said. “She was, offensively, someone who held us down. That was huge for the program.”
As for Hinman, she was one of the most reliable defensive middles in the nation.
Hinman’s 143 blocks this fall ranked fifth nationally and first in the KJCCC. The freshman averaged 1.12 blocks per set.
“Iniya developed in every way we could’ve hoped and she started developing a bigger leadership role,” Kelley said. “That’s the type of kid you want in that position.”
Hinman will return to Labette for her sophomore campaign in 2026.
“I want to see her capitalize on that leadership and grow her offense more to match that huge block she has,” Kelley said.
Rushing has yet to commit to a four-year school.
Labette finished with a 22-20 overall record this fall, marking both the winningest season and first-ever winning season in school history. The Cardinals also earned a postseason berth for the first time since 2014.
