The following is a breakdown of the recent election results. Fully canvassed results will be available in the coming weeks.
For the City of Parsons, Eric Strait, Verlyn Bolinger and Leland Crooks will continue to serve on the Parsons City Commission. Parson’s voters approved renewing a half-cent sales tax, which goes toward reducing the ad valorem property tax. This measure has been in place since 1997. It will be up for a renewal vote again in 2035.
In Altamont, Richard O. Hayward Jr. will remain Mayor. Council members Lyle Sykes, Kyle Wiford and Zachary Shideler Sellers will also continue to serve on the council.
In Bartlett, Doug Ramey will remain Mayor, and Rocky D. LaFalier, Joe Ramey and Rodney Dodge will continue to serve on the city council.
In Chetopa, Justin Nading and Ernest Wulf will continue to serve on the Chetopa City council. Betsy Koontz will soon join them on the council.
In Edna, Russ Russell, Michelle Traxson, and Kolby Lay will soon take their seats on the Edna City Council.
In Mound Valley, David Templeton will continue to serve as Mayor. Junken will continue to serve on the council, joined by Dyllon Stafford.
In Oswego, Kenny Gott and Brandy Scott will continue to serve on the city council, and will be joined by Chris Thomason.
The following is a list of election winners for local school boards and Labette Community College.
At USD 247, Position 4 was won by Ronald W. Yancey. Position 5 was won by Ray Huff. Darren M. Best will serve in Position 6.
On the USD 503 School Board, Dennis K. Dodd will join the board alongside incumbents Julie Legler and Jeffrey J. Quirin.
For the USD 504 School Board, Jennifer Schenker will join the board alongside incumbents, Kristin Redburn and Lewis “Skip” Riley.
In USD 505: District 1 Member 4 is Jennifer Stewart, District 2 Member 5 is Barbara Evans and District 3 Member 6 is Shelby Spielbusch.
In USD 506, District 1 Position 4 is Jessica Rush. District 2 Position 5 was won by Jyssica Lahey. District 3 Position 6 was won by Kris Graves, who will join the board in 2026.
Rod Landrum and Rebecca Dantic will continue to serve on the Labette Community College Board of Trustees The City of Labette elections and a few other races were completed with write-in votes, those results will be announced with the official canvassed results.
