Labette Center is pleased to announce a new therapist. Amanda Makunike transitioned into the role of open access therapist on Oct. 1 after graduating in May from the University of Kansas with a master’s in social work. Amanda has received full licensure as a Licensed Masters Social Worker in the State of Kansas.
Amanda began working at Labette Center as a care coordinator in June of 2023. Amanda attended college at Pittsburg State University, graduating with a bachelor’s in social work in December of 2022. She then went on to graduate from the University of Kansas with a master’s in social work in May of 2025 and received licensure on Sept. 4, 2025. While completing the social work program, Amanda held an internship with the Department of Children and Families, working with adult services. Amanda enjoys time spent relaxing at home, cooking and self-care.
