Parsons Police Department warns against cryptocurrency scams
The Parsons Police Department is reminding everyone to never send money or cryptocurrency to anyone you don’t personally know and trust, especially if the person or business contacts you unexpectedly online, by text, or over the phone.
Scammers often use tactics like: promising quick or guaranteed returns on investments; pretending to represent government agencies, banks, or tech companies; creating fake websites or “investment platforms” that appear legitimate; urging you to act fast or keep your transaction secret.
Once money or crypto is sent, it is nearly impossible to recover. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
What to do: stop and verify before sending any funds; call your local bank or law enforcement for guidance, and report suspicious messages or transactions to Parsons Police Department by calling 620-421-7060 or file online at reportfraud.ftc. gov.
Your awareness helps protect not just your wallet—but your entire community.
