DeLoma K. Griggs

DeLoma Kay Griggs (Workman), 83, of Parsons, passed away in her sleep, on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at Elmhaven in Parsons, Kansas.

DeLoma Kay Workman was born on Aug. 19, 1942, to Plesie and Gladys Workman (Goss) in Elk Falls, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Parsons, until moving with her family to McPherson in 1952. They returned to Labette County in 1955. In 1961, she graduated from Labette County Community High School.

Most of her working years, she was employed at nursing homes, including Home Place Nursing Home and at Heritage Home, where she received Certified Nurse’s Aide training. Then started working as a Registered Nurse Aid at Elmhaven.

She was a member of the Church of God in Parsons, Kansas and on March 24, 1962, DeLoma Kay Workman and James Franklin Griggs were married. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1989. Her siblings who preceded her in death are: Leroy Workman, Sarah Cole (Workman), Linda Howell (Workman) and Robert “Bob” Workman.

She is survived by: Sister: Jeannie M Truster (Workman), Children: Robert Lee Griggs and Diana Carson. Randy E. Griggs and Amie M Griggs (Palmer). Grandchildren: Megan Lynn Reaves (Griggs) and Anthony Reaves. Kelsey Sanchez (Carson) and Orlando Sanchez. Jeremy Carson and Kyler Carson, and Amaranda Palmer. Great Grandchildren: Leo Reaves and Oliver Reaves. Keggun Carson, Kandan Carson and Presley Carson. Madilynn Sanchez, Dez Sanchez and Zeke Sanchez. Nieces and Nephews: Sylvia Schmidt, Valerie Star, Janice Lubosch, Jim Truster and Shannon Howell. Foster-daughter Tonya “Toni” Evans.

Visitation was held Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home at 405 Main St. Parsons. The funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.

Memorials/Flowers are accepted. Donations in honor of Grandma Kay can be made to the Autism Hope for Families. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS, 67357.
