Labette Assistance Center announces there will be no commodities distributed this month

Labette Assistance Center has been notified by the Kansas Department of Children and Families that there will not be a distribution of The Emergency Food Assistance Program foods, also known as commodities, for the month of October 2025. Labette Assistance Center, along with other distribution sites, received notification from DCF the required federal administrative funds to cover shipping expenses associated with the food deliveries has not been received.

“We are waiting for any updates from DCF and will keep the public informed as we receive them. We have been advised when funds are received the TEFAP shipments will resume,” Labette County Emergency Assistance Center Director Theresa Leonardo said.

Labette Assistance Center urges anyone living in Labette County who needs food to contact the Center to access the food pantry. Call 620- 421-0700 to schedule an appointment to pick up food. The Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 3 p.m. Appointments are required. There are not any income guidelines to use the Labette Assistance Center food pantry.
