Oswego Police arrest man on ATV

On Oct. 6 a traffic stop was initiated on a yellow in color four wheeler (ATV) in the area of 8th and Commercial Street. Officer Mike Billingsly initiated contact for unlawful riding of an ATV on city roadways and failure to stop at a stop sign. As our officer activated his emergency lights and sirens, the operator of the ATV, Brandon Bartlett, began driving recklessly on the roadway, as well as through city patron’s yards, and ultimately came to a stop near the area of 8th and Iowa Street.

As the traffic stop progressed, a clear baggie with crystal like substance (suspected methamphetamine) and clear syringes were located on Bartlett’s person and backpack. Bartlett was charged with: possession of opiate opium narcotic or certain stimulant and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. He also has other pending traffic charges as well through the city of Oswego.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Chief Jacob Bond would like to recognize Officer Mike Billingsly for his hard work, values and dedication to keeping our community safe as his efforts do not go unnoticed.
