Labette County upsets Fort Scott

FORT SCOTT — In the biggest win in recent memory, the Labette County Grizzlies posted a road upset of the Fort Scott Tigers, 16-14, in Week 5 action on Friday night.

Jamaal Jackson was the workhorse back for the Grizzlies, carrying the ball 30 times out of 33 rushing attempts Labette County posted. Jackson totaled 146 yards and a touchdown with his workload.

Labette County quarterback Aaron Wyrick was 7-of-16 passing for 126 yards and a touchdown, with Jackson being on the receiving end of a 75-yard reception for the score.

Barrett Hestand added three catches for 44 yards.

Defensively, the Grizzlies racked up eight tackles for loss with senior Chris Stephens tallying three. Mikel Reed and Roper Bradfield added two apiece, with Bradfield registering a sack.

Deontae Fields picked a ball off for the Grizzlies.

With the win, Labette County improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in SEK League play.
