The Labette County Sheriff’s Office arrested a former Parsons teenager on allegations that he fired gunshots toward people and a vehicle in Parsons early Sunday morning. Parsons Police Department investigated the gunfire.
In a release, Parsons police said officers responded at 1:12 a.m. Sunday to the Stepping Stone Gardens Apartments, located near 26th Street and Grand Avenue, on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene, collected multiple pieces of evidence and interviewed witnesses. No injuries were reported.
During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as Clyde Douglas McGlory IV, a 17-year-old of Topeka, formerly of Parsons. Investigators determined that the incident began over a dispute over a misappropriated vehicle, which escalated into a personal confrontation involving a relationship issue. During that confrontation, McGlory IV allegedly produced a firearm and fired several shots toward a vehicle and the victims before fleeing the area.
Police issued a regional alert, and the sheriff’s office arrested McGlory IV during an early morning traffic stop Monday near U.S. 400 and Brown Road in Labette County. The traffic stop was conducted safely, and McGlory IV was taken into custody without incident, according to a release from police.
McGlory IV has been taken to the Southeast Kansas Regional Detention Center in Girard, where he remains in custody pending further proceedings.

We are grateful no one was injured, and we appreciate the public’s patience and support throughout this investigation.”
The case has been forwarded to the Labette County Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
