LAWRENCE — Beva Caroline Stringer, 95, of Lawrence entered eternal rest with Jesus on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.
She was born to Roy Edward and Rose Katherine (Wode) Waller in Altamont on Feb. 23, 1930.
A lifelong Kansas resident, Beva graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1947. She married Darrell Eugene Stringer on June 17, 1948, and resided for almost 60 years in Parsons. The couple raised four children, Lynn Searles (Martin), Janis Stewart (Steve), Dwight Stringer and Jeff Stringer (Yolanda). They had seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Beva was preceded in death by her parents (Roy and Rose); brothers (Sylvester Leo, Clifford Ray and Dwight Merle); husband (Darrell in 2007); son (Dwight in 2012); and great-granddaughter (Amara Grace Stringer in 2004).
In Parsons, Beva and Darrell built their farm and businesses as a team. Their business enterprises included: A Fina gas station, a Case tractor dealership, manufacturing and sales of dependable garden tractors and used car sales. Beva returned to school and earned an associate of arts degree from Labette Community Junior College (LCJC) in 1966. She then worked for LCJC as assistant to the director of admissions, Elliot Implements John Deer dealership as office manager, and New Dimensions Real Estate as a broker and office manager before her retirement.
Beva enjoyed growing and canning vegetables from her big garden. She also liked to go fishing and play board games. Her greatest joy, however, was serving the Lord. During losses and hardships, Beva stayed faithful to God because, “He has been faithful to me.” She actively served her church family, participating on committees, working in the food pantry and singing in the choir. Her wish was for everyone to join her on this heavenly journey.
The family received friends Sunday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. The service was Monday morning at the mortuary, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.
The family suggests memorials to Cornerstone Community Church, 2500 O’Connell Road, Lawrence, KS, 66046.
