Two Parsons Vikings football coaches, defensive coordinator Raheeme Dumas and assistant Ivory Kelley, left Friday night’s win over the Baxter Springs Lions at halftime.
Dumas and Kelley were seen at the end of the first half arguing with players and head coach Jeff Schibi following a miscue on offense.
Dumas directed a slur toward players before Schibi quickly intervened and instructed him to stop yelling at the team.
The dispute carried on as the Vikings made their way to the halftime locker room.
Multiple sources told the Sun that Dumas and Kelley continued the dispute with Schibi in and around the locker room before the pair left Marvel Park.
“It was unfortunate,” Schibi said. “Some egos got in the way. At the end of the day, we have a job to do. That’s to take care of the kids. We buckled down and wanted to make sure our kids are taken care of. We did that to the best of our ability while coaching shorthanded in the second half.”
Dumas and Kelley did not return to the sideline for the second half, where the Vikings posted a second half shutout.
Kaito Barr-Miller assumed interim defensive coordinator duties in the secon half.
At press time, it was unclear whether Dumas or Kelley are still members of the coaching staff.
