Concrete truck overturns on Wallace Road; driver injured

A concrete hauler overturned into a ditch on Wallace Road on Sept. 11 about four miles south of U.S. 400. The driver was injured, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

According to the KHP report, the accident happened at 7:20 a.m. Sept. 11 on Wallace Road 3.8 miles south of U.S. 400. A 2023 International truck hauling concrete and driven by Joseph A. Eigenman, 46, of Joplin was southbound on Wallace Road when a tire dropped off the edge of the roadway, causing the driver to lose control of the truck. The driver then overcorrected and the vehicle overturned in the ditch, the KHP report said.

Eigenman was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with suspected serious injuries, the report said.

Wallace Road and some ancillary roads were shut down while crews dealt with the accident and the removal of the debris and truck.
