Relay For Life event
Labette County Relay For Life will have its annual remembrance and fundraiser from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Forest Park in Parsons. The event honors cancer survivors and remembers loved ones lost to the disease. The event will feature the Parsons High School Dustkickers dance team, the Labette County High School dance team, face painting, zumba, a food truck, a DJ and more. All proceeds raised will go to the American Cancer Society.
Fellowship meal at Altamont
ALTAMONT — At noon Thursday, Sept. 25, the Altamont Senior Citizens Center will serve soups (vegetable and taco) for their fellowship meal. Bring your appetite.
At 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, stop by the center for breakfast and bingo.
At 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday there are 60 Plus Nutrition meals available. Please call in advance to reserve your meal for the next day. No takeouts.
Other activities: 1 p.m. Tuesday is craft day; 1 p.m. Wednesday is game day; and at 9:30 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month is the health clinic.

TUESDAY, Sept. 23: 14 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10-18. WEDNESDAY, Sept. 24: 4 p.m., Let’s Play for ages 5 and under.
THURSDAY, Sept. 25: 1 p.m., let’s color for adults and teens; 4 p.m., Switch free play for teens; 4 p.m., children’s paint and sip for ages 6-10.
FRIDAY, Sept. 26: 4 p.m., Let’s Cook for teens.
Knights of Columbus benefit breakfast
ST. PAUL — Knights of Columbus Council 760 - St. Paul-Walnut-Erie - is hosting a benefit breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, at St. Francis Parish Hall, First and Lafayette, in St. Paul. The cost is a free-will donation and proceeds will be directed to a 26-year-old Erie man, Aaron Yarnell, who is battling a rare and aggressive bone cancer. Breakfast will include sausage, eggs, hot cakes, biscuits and gravy and an opportunity for a friendly round-table visit.

The Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,200 cattle Wednesday. Choice cows 165-178, canners-cutters 157-164, shelly cows 156 and down, bred cows up to $2,900, pairs up to $3,125, choice bulls 190-223, lower grades 189 and down.
