Colgan dominates Haley’s Run in Altamont

ALTAMONT — Haley’s Run, the annual start to the cross country season at Labette County, was held on Thursday with St. Mary’s Colgan dominating a dwindled field.

The private Pittsburg school won both the boys and girls’ races as a team. Colgan was the lone girls team to qualify for a team score in the girls race, while the Colgan boys scored 31 points.

Labette County’s boys tied for second with Columbus with 58 points, while Coffeyville scored 80.

In the girls’ race, Mariella Gilmore of St. Mary’s Colgan won with a time of 19:53, over two minutes better than runner-up and teammate Ali Karleskint.

Gillian Wilbert (22:47) and Adriana Lopez-Gomez (22:56), both from St. Mary’s Colgan, rounded out the top-four.

Labette County’s Aubrie Meyer finished fifth with a time of 23:36 while Paishance Wagner was sixth, finishing 10 seconds later.

Teagan Shaw of Labette County finished 10th (25:26) while Paige Johnston was 11th (25:39).

In the boys’ race, Colton Smithhisler won with a time of 16:55, well ahead of runner-up Bennett Thompson of Coffeyville (18:26).

Parsons’ Colten Carson finished third in the race with a time of 18:34.

Labette County saw Jacob Haraughty finished fourth (18:41), Colten Weil 11th (19:40), Cooper Newby 13th (19:58), Jaden Geiger 21st (22:07), Audrick Driskill 22nd (22:12) and Alex Dolechek 23rd (22:22).
