The Parsons Police Department has been recognized for Excellence in Training Management for 2024 by Lexipol, which provides policy, training and wellness support for public safety agencies. This recognition is awarded through the Lexipol Connect program, which evaluates agencies across key performance metrics that reflect success in managing training, staff engagement and professional development.
This honor comes in addition to the department’s 2024 Lexipol Gold Award for Policy Management.
The Lexipol Connect program monitors agency performance across five critical metrics: training hours assigned, completions tracked, personnel engagement, external training logged and consistency of participation. By achieving the Bronze recognition in Training Management, the Parsons Police Department demonstrated consistent success in ensuring that its personnel receive effective, documented, and relevant training throughout the year.
Chief of Police Robert Spinks emphasized the importance of ongoing training as a cornerstone of professional policing. “Ongoing training is vital to equipping our personnel with the knowledge and skills they need to protect and serve our community effectively. We are honored to receive this recognition from Lexipol Connect, which underscores our commitment to excellence in training. Our next goal is to elevate this recognition even further within the Lexipol system.”
The Parsons Police Department’s investment in training extends beyond routine courses. Through Lexipol and its affiliated PoliceOne Academy, officers and staff have access to online and interactive learning modules, covering emerging technologies, evolving threats, de-escalation strategies, crisis intervention and wellness programs. These platforms allow the department to respond quickly to new challenges while ensuring compliance with state and national standards.
Lt. Jason Ludwig, who oversees training and administrative services, highlighted how the Lexipol platform impacts the department at every level. “The investment in continuous training management reflects our city’s dedication to community safety and professionalism. The Lexipol platform allows Parsons Police to manage training efficiently, ensuring our personnel are always ready to respond to the needs of our residents. This continued training is not just for patrol officers, Lexipol and Police-One Academy also provide high-quality training for our civilian and dispatch staff. This online platform ensures every member of our team is prepared to perform at their best.”
By maintaining high standards of training management, the Parsons Police Department enhances community safety and strengthens public trust. Regular training ensures officers are well-prepared to apply the latest best practices in law enforcement, while also maintaining empathy, professionalism and accountability in their daily interactions with residents.
This recognition is a step in the department’s broader strategy of professional growth and is combined with the department’s ongoing pursuit of Kansas Law Enforcement Accreditation.
