Gage Guiot (above), who is painting a mural on the building near 18th and Broadway in downtown Parsons, adds detail to the steam billowing from the locomotive he painted on the south side of the wall. The mural depicts themes from Parsons history, including the railroad and the old drive-in theater. Guiot said he hopes to finish the mural by Thursday, depending on weather. The left photo shows Guiot’s first outlines of the mural on the wall after it was whitewashed for the city in the spring. Guiot of Chanute has completed murals in other cities, including Altamont.
