Alice D. Lumm

Alice D. Lumm, 77, of Parsons died Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, 2025, at her home at Woodridge Estates. Her death was unexpected.

She was born May 12, 1948, at Parsons, a daughter of Harold M. and Xina D. (Rice) Noakes. She grew up and attended school at Parsons and attended Cherryvale High School. She was employed at the former Broderick Co. in Parsons for eight years, then worked at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society and Elmhaven West.

On Aug. 18, 1964, she married Richard W. Lumm at Cherryvale. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1997.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in past years and was currently a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework and collecting die cast pencil sharpeners (her collection included about 100). She also enjoyed drawing.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Cathy Lumm, Parsons and Darren and LeAnn Lumm, Parsons; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Lonnie Smith, Parsons; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Dale R. Noakes, Barstow, California, Raymond L. Noakes, Aurora, Colorado; two sisters, Patricia Olson, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Brenda Todd, Pierre, South Dakota.

A brother, Garold Dean Noakes, preceded her in death in June 1949.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the Carson- Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Choi officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
