
PITTSBURG — Benjamin H. “Ben” Ewing, 46, of Pittsburg, and a former Parsons resident, passed away at 8:58 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Ben was born on Aug. 31, 1978, at Fort Polk, Louisiana, to Michael and Debra “Debi” (Strait) Ewing. He grew up at Ansbach, Germany, Tacoma, Washington, Parsons and Walnut. He graduated from Erie High School in 1997. He later graduated from trucking school and welding school.
He worked as a traveling welder for many years and lived in Pittsburg. Ben had a dry, witty sense of humor. He enjoyed shooting, collecting antiques and having a great time with family and friends. He had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ben was a regular blood donor and had donated over 3 gallons at the blood drives in Pittsburg. His kind and generous spirit continued after he passed away through his request to be an organ donor.
Ben is survived by his father, Michael Ewing Sr. and his wife, Christine Stone-Ewing, of Tacoma, Washington; his brother, Christopher Ewing and his wife, Amie, of Yelm, Washington; his niece and nephew, Lillian Elizabeth Ewing and Bryon Michael Ewing; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Debi Shannon; his brother, Michael J. “Joey” Ewing Jr.; and his grandparents, Buel Ewing, Marguerite Ewing, Henry Owen Strait and Anna Strait.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Car- son-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Ball ovciating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may come to the funeral home to view and sign the register.
