On Nov. 14, 1970, she was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Allen Mendicki at the former Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons.
She attended Pittsburg State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She later earned a master’s degree in education and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree.
From 1986 until her retirement in 2007, she taught second and third grades at Garfield Elementary in Parsons. Tony preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2024.
Vicki was a former member of the Central Avenue Christian Church, which later became First Christian, before becoming a member of the First Baptist Church. In past years, she was a member of each church’s choir and had served as chair of the Worship Committee at First Baptist.
She also taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school there and directed the cherub choir (4 – 6 year-olds) for several years. She and Tony attended a neighborhood Bible study for many years and built many long-lasting friendships.
In her early years after her marriage, she operated a neighborhood daycare and was a certified leader in La Leche League.
Vicki worked hard at everything she set out to do in life. Her love for her family and friends was enormous and will not be forgotten.
