Kristopher J. “Kris” Vitt, 60, of rural Parsons passed away the morning of Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at his home.
Kristopher Joseph Vitt was born on Nov. 15, 1964, to Ray and Regina (McKinney) Vitt in Parsons. He grew up and attended school at St. Patrick Catholic School K-8, graduating from Labette County High School in 1983.
He spent his life working as a rancher and cowboy. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Known as a true cowboy who always believed in riding good horses, Kris had a larger-than-life personality. He was a wonderful husband and father who was devoted to his family. His authenticity and caring nature carried over into his many friendships.
On May 30, 2015, Kris married Lori Bridwell Morris at the family ranch outside of Parsons. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Dylan Vitt (Krista) of Parsons, Jacob Morris (Sabrina) of Edgerton, Missouri, Will Morris (Wyatt Minihan) of Frontenac and J.T. Morris (Cami) of Farley Village, Missouri; four grandchildren, Amani, Dutton, August, Ryder and one baby boy on the way; his mother, Regina Sprague (Charles) of Parsons; a sister, Kim Kirk (Rick) of Osawatomie; an honorary son, Levi Wilson (Kali); an honorary granddaughter, Wrenley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close family friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Vitt, on Nov. 13, 2009.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Vitt Ranch, 1919 24000 Road, Parsons. The family will receive guests following the rosary.
