Fire damaged the back porch and the back of a home in the 2100 block of Crawford late Saturday night.
The alarm came at 11:20 p.m. Saturday for a fire at 2114 Crawford, according to Fire Chief Brad Boss. Items left on the back porch and back yard of the property by a previous tenant were on fire. The fire spread to the back side of the structure.
Boss said the fire was under control at 11:50 p.m. and firefighters remained on scene until around 1 a.m. Sunday. Altamont firefighters responded. The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating.
The house is valued at $22,000 and firefighters estimated damage at $10,000.
Jerry Ball owns the house. The current tenants’ names were not available.
