Bridges Inc. will replace U.P. bridge north of Parsons

The project to replace the Union Pacific Railroad bridge on U.S. 59 north of Parsons is advancing.

The Kansas Department of Transportation announced approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place July 23 in Topeka.

District Four — Southeast Labette: U.S. 59, bridge 15 over Union Pacific Railroad located 1.1 miles north of U.S. 400/Main Street, bridge replacement, Bridges Inc., Newton, $7,993,727.72.

Additional information will be available in the coming months after the first preconstruction meeting.

Sandy Krider, the Labette County Public Works director, said the county is still working on finalizing local detour routes. The city of Parsons is also discussing local detours.
