Local artists among masterpiece level winners

Four artists in Parsons Presbyterian Manor’s annual Art is Ageless juried competition will be featured in the 2026 Art is Ageless calendar produced by Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America.

“Boy and His Horse,” a drawing entry by Larry Davis, “Chaotic Cats,” a quilting entry by Sharon Ellis, “Segmented Bowl,” a sculpture/3-D entry by David McConnell and “Winter of 1983,” a painting entry by Lois Kay Vail, will appear in the calendar when it is released this fall.

The works were first selected among the winners of the local competition and were entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 14 other PMMA communities. More than 190 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar with pull-out postcards and greeting cards.

“Sheep with Heart,” a fiber arts entry by Shirley Dunsing, and “Pandemic,” a needlework entry by Sharon Ellis, will be featured on the pullout postcards included in the 2026 calendar.

“Snowman with Green Scarf,” a Christmas entry by Lorraine Evert, “Birds of a Feather,” a photography entry by Max Good, and “You Aren’t Going to Eat Anymore Berries Are You?,” a Christmas entry by Judith Ann Wells, will be featured on Art is Ageless greeting cards.

“We’re thrilled to see our local artists be featured so prominently after our local exhibit and competition,” said Crystal Packard, executive director of PPM. “Their work is proof that creativity remains, no matter our age.”

A copyrighted program of PMMA, Art is Ageless is open exclusively to people aged 65 and over. For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years.
