Betty L. “Meme” Testerman, 93, of Parsons went home to meet her Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025.
Betty Louise Kimrey was born on May 26, 1932, in rural Altamont to Cecil Ray “Ray” and Edith Louise “Sis” (Rexwinkle) Kimrey. She moved with her family to rural Craig County, Oklahoma, where she attended Plain View Grade School. After graduation, she and her family moved to Edna, where she attended and graduated from Edna High School. While in high school, she worked in her grandma Rexwinkle’s café.
On Nov. 17, 1951, she married Arthur W. “Art” Testerman. They made their home in Bartlett. Into the union, two daughters were born, Connie and Denise.
Over the years, Betty worked in the central telephone office as a switchboard operator, at Glenn Berry making Army pants and for USD 506. She was also a devoted housewife and mother. Betty donated many hours riding the Head Start bus, devoted many days caring for her grandchildren before and after school and loved to cook. The rule at her house was that if you ate there, you were not allowed to leave hungry. She loved making cinnamon rolls and no-bake cookies.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Wyckoff (Kirk) of Parsons and Denise Hope (Clif) of Altamont; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Jay Jarman (Tiffany) of Parsons, Kenton Jarman (Holly) of Altamont, Douglas Jarman (Tercya) of Parsons, Nicole Hope of Lamar, Missouri, Christopher Hope (Brita) of Bartlett, Samantha Hope of Altamont, Stephanie Hope of Manhattan, Scott Wyckoff (Laura) of Bonner Springs and Natasha Nisenkier (Peter) of Stillwell; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Foister and her husband, Howard, of Edna and Karen Adolph and her husband, Fred, of Joplin, Missouri; her sister-inlaw, Shirley Kimrey Triebel of Edna; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur W. “Art” Testerman; and in later years, Jimmie Johnston; two brothers, Charles Kimrey and Cecil Darrel Kimrey; and a sister-in-law, Bev Kimrey.
The service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Bartlett Christian Church. Burial will follow at Lake Creek Union Cemetery in Bartlett. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. Friday until the service begins.
