
Rodney D. Page, 77, of Parsons passed away at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Medicalodges Independence in Independence. He had been in failing health.
Rodney was born on Jan. 17, 1948, at Oswego to Leroy and Marjorie (Kessler) Page. He grew up at Oswego, Coos Bay, Oregon, Wichita and Altamont. He attended Oswego and Altamont schools, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1964. Rodney entered the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1971. He returned to Labette County and later earned an associate’s degree from Labette Community College and a bachelor’s degree in automotive technology from Pittsburg State University.
Rodney was a “jack of all trades” who worked jobs in several industries: Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, Tass Turtle Automotive, O’Reilly Automotive, Walmart, Crispell Veterinary Clinic, Schoenhofer Brothers and as a self-employed handyman.
He loved collecting and working with model trains, ships and cars. He was always working on various projects and fixing anything mechanical. Rodney attended Baptist churches in Oswego and Altamont and attended Wesley United Methodist Church and Living Hope Baptist Church after moving to Parsons.
He married Marty F. Dunivant on June 4, 1972, at Parsons. She preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1995.
Rodney is survived by his son, Shawn Page and his wife, Wendy, of Parsons; his daughter, Amy Ray and her husband, Gerald, of Urbana, Illinois; his companion, Janice Giger of Erie; his stepson, Adam Giger Sr., and his wife, Ashley, of Erie; his stepdaughter, Emily Giger of Afton, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Rebekah Brownewell, Eric Ray, Levi Ray, Caleb Ray, Danielle Ray, Hunter Long, Makalynn Long, Jaden Muntz, Adam Giger Jr., Andrew Giger, Allie Giger and one on the way; Lanie Giger and one great-grandchild, Ryker Henderson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Eric Page; and two sisters, Carolyn Sue Duff and Cheryl K. Burton.
The service was Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons with Pastor Matt Newton officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family suggested memorials to the Parsons Pathways to Freedom, and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
