Wilma J. Ruttgen

Wilma J. Ruttgen, 94, of Parsons passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025.

She was born on June 27, 1931, in Oswego.

On Feb. 22, 1952, she married Robert Ruttgen.

Wilma spent her life grounded in faith and guided by a deep commitment to serving others. A dedicated member of Mother of God Catholic Church, she gave countless hours of her time and talents in service to her parish.

She served faithfully as the church secretary for 25 years and was a past president of St.

Mary’s Altar Society.

Wilma’s community involvement extended far beyond her church. She volunteered at Oswego Senior Center and served as secretary-treasurer of the senior citizens board of directors. She was also a proud member of the Bryant-Sykes Auxiliary No. 3399, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Oswego.

She is survived by her children, Mari Anne Hansen (Chris) of Parsons and Mike Ruttgen of Owasso, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Melanie McMurphy (Ryan) of Topeka and Adam Hansen of Cherokee; great-grandchildren, Callan, Peyton, Adam Jr., Jordan, Fallon and Sutton; and siblings, Judy Coburn and Jean Tullis, Joplin, and Lloyd Holmes, Newton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Lloyd and Gladys Holmes; siblings, Wayne Holmes and Opal Shanks; and one great-grandchild, Pearson.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 405 Main St., Parsons. The parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego with a visitation to follow. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at the church.

The family suggests memorials to Mother of God Catholic Church. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS, 67357.
