
ERIE — Kazmier Butch Ptasznik, 76, of Erie died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul.
He was born March 24, 1949, at Ravensburg, Germany, a son of Walter and Frances (Pazek) Ptasznik. His family immigrated to the United States in 1949 and settled in St. Paul, where he attended school, graduating from Erie High School in 1967. He moved to Wichita in 1974 and lived there for several decades, working as an electrician at Tracy Electric. He retired in 2016.
He was Catholic. He loved to read, watch sports and be the life of the party. He was known for his heart, charisma and orneriness.
Survivors include four daughters, Hannah Ptasznik, Kansas City, Kansas, Molly Ptasznik, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Kim Ptasznik, Galesburg, and Christina Bernal, Galesburg; five grandchildren, Kaden Ptasznik, Stark, Anthony Ptasznik, Galesburg, Brett Bernal, Galesburg, Samuel Bernal, Galesburg, Beckett Williams, Galesburg; a brother, Joseph Ptasznik, Claremore, Oklahoma; and three sisters, Irene Chambers, Clearwater, Helen Ptasznik, Wichita, and RoseMary Hines, Erie.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Ptasznik, in 1969.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Ball officiating.
