Local N ews Commission approves Tahoe purchase
OSWEGO — Labette County commissioners this week approved the purchase of a new vehicle for the Emergency Preparedness director.
The truck that Charlie Morse drives has had mechanical issues as its mileage increases. The most recent repair will cost about $3,000. Morse told commissioners previously he’s been budgeting for a new vehicle. A lengthy search process turned up a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe in Louisville, Kentucky. The Tahoe has a larger radiator, transmission and other features that make it more durable than a stock vehicle. The Tahoe has 20,376 miles and costs $51,462, Morse told commissioners.
Commissioners and Morse talked this about how to pay for it, including financing. Morse is getting quotes from area banks about financing the vehicle purchase over several years.
In other matters, the commission also: — Approved two resolutions and signed two lease purchase agreements for the purchase of two Caterpillar motor graders, which cost $566,000. Commercial Bank is financing the purchase at 3.95% over 72 months.
— Agreed to purchase a new phones from Granite for about $850 a month for 17 administrative lines in dispatch, the jail and the sheriff’s office. The change will save about $350 a month.
— Agreed to allow 911 Director Brandy Scott to purchase a new scheduling app called Pace for $1,600 a year.
